Who is Eligible to Pursue the One-Year MBA?
When you apply to MBA@Dayton, our admission team will decide whether you are eligible for the Advanced Standing MBA based on your prior education and experience. UD’s one-year online MBA program may be an option if you:
Earned an undergraduate business degree within the last seven years
Have the availability and motivation to take 7.5 credits per term
If applicants graduated with their undergraduate business degree within the last seven years but completed their coursework more than seven years ago, they will be evaluated for course waivers based on grades, time of completion, and professional experience.
How is the One-Year MBA Different Than the Foundational MBA?
If you are admitted into the one-year Advanced Standing track, the admission team has decided that your academic experience has given you a strong enough background in basic business practices to waive up to 15 credit hours of MBA-readiness courses. The remainder of the curriculum is the same as the foundational MBA.
The Advanced Standing track requires 30 credits:
Core courses: 12 credits
Electives: 6 credits
Integrated Strategy: 6 credits
Integrated Ethics: 3 credits
Immersions: 3 credits
If you choose to pursue a concentration, you will take an additional elective course, for a total of 33 credits.
Some applicants with relevant experience may qualify for a modified version of the Advanced Standing MBA in which some of their foundational requirements are waived, resulting in a total credit requirement to complete the degree somewhere between 30 and 45 credits. Please contact your Admission Counselor to learn if you may be eligible for this modified version of the Advanced Standing MBA based upon your educational or professional experience.
With the MBA@Dayton online learning experience, you will apply your knowledge immediately and collaborate with other passionate, service-oriented professionals. At the same time, you maintain the flexibility to continue working as you pursue your MBA from UD.
Because the only difference between the foundational MBA and the Advanced Standing is the number of credits, you will receive the same advanced business knowledge without repeating topics you covered in your undergraduate program. In the Advanced Standing MBA, you will:
Accelerate your career by completing the program in a shorter amount of time.
Earn your degree from UD’s AACSB-accredited School of Business Administration.
Receive the same quality learning experience as in the foundational MBA program.
Form strong connections with faculty and classmates in live online classes and at in-person immersions.
How Flexible is the One-Year MBA?
While the program can be completed in 12 months if you take 7.5 credits per semester, you can complete the program at a slower pace if needed. You have the flexibility to complete the program in as few as 12 or as many as 60 months.
Suggested 12-Month Course Sequence:

Modeling and Analysis for Business Decisions

Performance Measurement and Control Systems Perspective
